A fire alarm system works best with a variety of detection devices such as, smoke detectors, heat detectors, and manual pull stations. Indication devices include horns, strobes, bells and combination horn/strobes.

D & L Fire Protection Limited performs annual inspections on fire alarm systems as per N.F.P.A. Standards, the Ontario Fire Code, and CAN/ULC-S536.

Upon completion of the required testing “as well as any repairs that may be required”, D&L Fire Protection Limited will issue a complete inspection report.

Fire Extinguishers

“As per NFPA10 It is the responsibility of the owner or designated agent or occupant of a property in which fire extinguishers are located be responsible for inspection, maintenance, and recharging of fire extinguishers” – National Fire Protection Association Sec.10 rev.2010


In the event of a fire, a Fire Extinguisher is your first line of defense. Every fire extinguisher should be properly selected and located for your environment and serviced by a trained technician. At D & L Fire Protection Limited our fire extinguisher technicians are NFPA 10 Certified and have received training on the servicing of dry chemical and Class K Fire extinguishers. Our shop has a dedicated booth for servicing fire extinguishers where our technicians perform maintenance and inspection procedures for all types of fire extinguishers:

We stock several sizes and types of fire extinguishers, such as:

  • 5, 10 and 20LB ABC fire extinguishers

*Halotron fire extinguishers are used in areas that require fire protection but have sensitive electronic equipment around them, such as server rooms, telecommunication rooms or computer labs.

Sprinkler Systems

Sprinkler systems can be used with or without a fire alarm system when you have a sprinkler system as well as a fire alarm system, the two systems must both be operational to ensure protection. The sprinkler system has many devices on it that are connected to the fire alarm panel to monitor its status and to activate the fire alarm if it detects the flow of water through its pipes.

Restaurant Suppression Systems

Higher temperature cooking oils and high efficiency appliances in modern industrial kitchens create a potentially dangerous environment that can result in devastating fires. With a properly designed and installed Wet Chemical Fire Suppression System from D & L Fire Protection Limited, a fire will be rapidly detected and extinguished. The systems are set up with two options for releasing the agent for your protection: a manual release and an automatic detection set to release at a set temperature.

Every Wet Chemical Fire Suppression System we offer has been tested and approved in accordance with UNFPA-17A, ULC/ORD-C 1254.18-1995, ULC-300 and NFPA 96 standards.

D & L Fire Protection Limited will create the required drawings, design, supply and install your kitchen suppression system.

Inspections are performed semi-annually as per N.F.P.A Standards, the Ontario Fire Code as well as the newest U.L 300 standards.

Emergency Exit Lighting

The purpose of emergency and exit lighting is to provide a safe way for occupants to exit the building in the event of an emergency where the power has been disconnected. Through out your building you may notice little lights mounted on the wall or ceiling that never come on, they are part of your buildings emergency lighting system.

A building is required to have emergency and exit lighting equipment installed near all exits as well as areas that are open to the public and underground walkways.D&L can assist with all of your emergency exit needs.

It is important to carry out periodic testing of the batteries that control these lights to ensure proper function in an emergency.

Annual Inspection includes:
  • Test battery for a minimum of 30 minutes by disconnecting AC power to each unit
  • Inspect battery and lenses
  • Clean unit if required
  • Ensure proper alignment of lenses
  • Inspect charging board

Industrial Spray Booths

Paint spray booths, hazardous material storage areas and many other industrial processes using highly flammable liquids create an environment in which fire is always a threat.

For this type of setting, you can use either a Dry Chemical Suppression System or a CO2 Suppression System.


With a properly designed and installed Dry Chemical Fire Suppression System, a fire will be rapidly detected and extinguished.

With a properly designed and installed CO2 Suppression System, a fire will be radpidly detected, extinguished, and production can resume faster thanks to no residue left after system discharge.

Every Dry Chemical Fire Suppression System we install has been tested and approved in accordance with ULC 1254, 1998 and the applicable NFPA standards.

Fire Hoses
& Safety Supplies

D&L Fire Protection annually inspects fire hoses in accordance with NFPA standards. Inspections include hydrostatic testing at required time periods depending on the age of the fire hose. Upon completion of our inspection our technicians will list any deficiencies and provide you with a recommended solution to remedy the issue(s).
